From the dream
I’ll see the colors of irises

She wrote the following poem at the age of 13 during
the cherry viewing festival in Ueno Park in Tokyo.

idobata no / sakura abunashi / sake no yoi

jeopardized
by drunkards
the cherry tree at the well

be careful be careful!
of the cherry tree by the well
you're drunk with sake

Shushiki was the student of Kikaku, Basho's favorite disciple.
