Kagami Shiko (1665-1731)

A selection of haiku poetry

Even though afar,
A feeling of coolness comes
From those mountain pines

how I envy maple leafage
which turns beautiful
then falls

The wings of passing birds
Singed on the red maple leaves.

Wearing a sedge hat
A maiden looks in the mirror
Oblivious of picking tea leaves
